Abstract
Two generalized two phase sampling estimators Tg and T’g for the population mean in presence of non-response have been proposed and their properties have been studied under the finite population and super population approaches. The numerical illustration suggests that in the case of finite population approach, we see that for any value of p , Tg is preferred over T’g for higher values of p2 . while T’g is preferred over Tg for smaller values of p2 and higher values of p , where p and p2 denote the correlation coefficient between y and x for the entire population and for the non-responding part of the population. The empirical study shows that Tg is more efficient than T’g in the case of fixed cost as well as for the fixed sample sizes (n, n’) for different values of sub-sampling fraction (1/ K) . However, Tg is always preferred over T’g under superpopulation approach.
