Types of Articles
The Aligarh Journal of Statistics (AJS) publishes various types of research, including reviews, analyses, mini-review articles, and case studies. These articles should include motivation, an overview of the field, up-to-date references, novelty, theoretical background, examples, and conclusions. Short communications are typically 4-7 pages long, while research articles and case studies are 8-14 pages long. Authors must follow AJS guidelines and format their articles per the journal template. If extensions of previously published conference articles are submitted, editors will check if new material has been added to meet journal standards and qualify for review. Peer Review Policies
The peer-review process starts with an editorial assessment by the editor-in-chief and editorial team members to determine if an article should be sent for review. It may be rejected if the article does not meet basic standards or falls within the Journal’s scope. Authors can expect a decision within two weeks of submission. If the article moves forward, it undergoes double-blind peer review by at least two members of the international expert panel. The final decision on acceptance rests with the Editor-in-Chief and editorial board members.
Role of reviewers
The Journal of the Aligarh Journal of Statistics relies heavily on reviewers’ contributions. Maintaining confidentiality and respecting authors’ rights is crucial throughout the review process.
Conflict of interest in reviewing process
Double-blind peer reviews are crucial because the small research community may already know the author’s work. It is essential to disclose any significant conflicts of interest to the Editor and decline review requests if they cause bias. Focusing solely on evaluating the article, avoiding personal judgment, and avoiding criticism is more likely to be positively received by the author and lead to better work. Editors appreciate honesty about conflicts of interest, and any concerns should be addressed with the Editorial Office.
